| Our Grade 1 classification implies that we have seen no impurities when at least 0.1mg lipid has been run on a thin layer plate subsequently charred by a technique which reveals the presence of 0.001mg lipid. Grade 2 products are made either by simpler methods or are batches which just fail to pass our tests as Grade 1, but we never knowingly send out oxidised materials. |

Grade 1 prepared by chromatography on alumina and silicic acid columns. 5ml ampoules of colourless solution in chloroform:methanol.
Grade 2a prepared by chromatography on alumina. We have seen no sphingomyelin or lysolecithin on TLC of 100 micrograms but traces of fast-running impurities are present. 5ml ampoules in chloroform:methanol.
Grade 2b contains impurities including sphingomyelin, lysolecithin and some pigments. 5ml ampoules in chloroform:methanol.
